Cultivations of raspberries

Fragrant, colorful and tasty, raspberries are fruits so tasty that they make the end of summer less bitter but their cultivation also has many advantages.

Raspberry crops, in fact, are resistant, perfect for experimenting with organic farming and offer an abundant production capable of enhancing even small plots of land or areas not particularly suitable for agricultural activity.

How and where are raspberries grown in Italy?

The ideal soil for growing raspberries is rather acidic, fresh and well-drained, because the roots of this rustic shrub need to breathe.

As for the exposure, however, it is better to choose an area not too sunny and sheltered from the wind, so that the fruits do not get damaged due to the rubbing of the thin branches of the shrub. Irrigation must be constant but never excessive, so much so that in spring it is advisable to wet the plants only in case of drought.

If we add to this information that raspberry crops can be located up to an altitude of 1000 or 1500 meters, it is not surprising that in Italy the major producers of raspberries are the regions of the north, Trentino and Piedmont in particular.

The raspberry plant: cultivation in pots

Resistant, without special needs and that takes up little space: the raspberry plant seems ideal also for growing in pots. And, indeed, that’s right!

To have juicy raspberries on the terrace just choose a large enough container, perhaps long and narrow to be able to arrange even two or three plants leaving about 30cm between one and the other.

The important thing will be to choose an airy corner, not constantly exposed to the sun and perhaps place the pot against a wall or a small support, so that the plant does not risk bending over itself due to the weight of the fruit.

RivaReno raspberry sorbet and ice cream: fragrant and fresh every day

Among the fruit ice creams that we produce every day in our ice cream workshops, a special place is occupied by the raspberry sorbet.

The reason is very simple: it is an ice cream with an intense flavor, naturally balanced between sweetness and acidity and, in addition, it is very rich in vitamins.

Good, very good for the palate and beyond.

To best enjoy it, combine it with full and fragrant flavors such as coconut and banana, with the timeless chocolate: in its dark or white variant, with which we make our sweet San Luca specialty!
