Desserts with puffed rice

Crunchy and soft, tasty and light: sweets with puffed rice are suitable for everyone, easy and quick to make even at home. Puffed rice, in fact, is an extremely versatile ingredient that allows you to unleash your creativity in the kitchen, by combining it with sweet as well as savory flavors. It is, however, in the snack and dessert recipes that its taste and texture is most successfully enhanced. Moreover, preparing desserts with puffed rice is very easy and can become a fun and safe pastime even for children: often, in fact, the only cooking required is the one needed to melt a little chocolate!

Biscuits and snack bars recipes with puffed rice

For breakfast, or as a snack, biscuits and puffed rice bars are always a healthy and appetizing option, and the recipes for preparing them are really simple. For the base of the biscuits just a few ingredients are enough, besides rice: a knob of butter, a spoonful of flour, a spoonful of sugar and an egg. Preparation time is also really fast: only 10 minutes. If, on the other hand, you don’t want to turn on the oven, we recommend making some snack bars. Just melt some chocolate, mix it with the puffed rice and then let the mixture cool. To make these desserts even more delicious, you just need a little imagination: add chopped coconut, colored sugars, dried fruit to the dough or, perhaps, serve them with cream or chocolate ganache.

Puffed rice cakes

With puffed rice you can also revisit traditional recipes to make them even more tempting and light. For example, you can use puffed rice instead of biscuits in chocolate salami, or combine it with the classic Sbrisolona shortcrust pastry. Furthermore, puffed rice is great for the crunchy base of creamy desserts like cheesecake. In this case, also, you can unleash your creativity: garnish the cake with red fruits, flavor the cream cheese with pistachio, lemon or coffee.

RivaReno’s white chocolate and puffed rice ice cream

From the unique combination of puffed rice crunchiness and white chocolate sweet creaminess comes one of our most popular,  freshly made, specialties ever. It is called San Luca and is excellent in combination with the strong flavor of dark chocolate, or dark cremino: come and try it in our ice cream parlours!
