Gelato on a diet? Yes, please

Have the Christmas holidays left you with a few extra kilos? That’s normal, the Christmas period is full of delicacies that are impossible to resist! But all is not lost: there is still time to plan a low-calorie diet that doesn’t oblige you to give up all food-related pleasures. Ever heard of gelato on a diet? Well yes, it is a nutritious food that can be safely allowed, if you choose carefully: together let’s see how it’s done!

Gelato and a diet: lose weight with gusto!

Gelato and your diet can co-exist if you decide to have it as a snack or as a meal replacement: it is, in fact, a food rich in protein, derived from milk and/or eggs, and essential amino acids that make it easily assimilable and digestible. Gelato also contains micronutrients such as vitamins, especially A and B2, and mineral salts such as calcium and phosphorus. So it’s a well-balanced food from a nutritional point of view and is an excellent energy source. But how many calories does a gelato have? It depends on the flavour chosen, but in general, for every 100 grams of product, the calorie intake can vary from 100 to 250 calories. So you can say yes to gelato during a diet, but without abusing it and following some little tips!

Gelato flavours with the least calories

If you decide to enjoy a gelato during your diet, know that the flavours of gelato which contain the least calories are obviously the fruit ones. A nice strawberry or lemon cone, in fact, provides about 60/65 calories per 100 grams, while for the same amount, chocolate gelato or creme gelato have a calorific content of about 240 kcal: a clear difference! Another tip is related to the difference between a packaged gelato and a handmade one. The packaged ones are produced with the addition of additives, such as dyes, artificial flavours and vegetable oils that make them much fattier than the artisan ones, which are made with natural, high-quality ingredients.

The kcal in RivaReno gelato

For its taste and substance, RivaReno gelato has a very moderate calorie content. It is free of artificial additives and hydrogenated fats and is therefore the perfect substitute for a meal, or a tasty, sinful little snack! Many flavours await you in our gelato laboratories, to help you gratify your palate and make your diet a little… lighter!
